Gloria Vanderbilt AKA the Denim Queen passed away June 17, 2019. I personally found Ms. Vanderbilt's life quite intriguing in her documentary she created with her son, Anderson Cooper, Nothing Left Unsaid (2016). However, one fact about her life that I connected with the most was her notoriety for her denim line. She made denim a luxury, but also opened the door for the everyday Jane to wear luxury jeans and feel luxurious in them.

This series is about denim in the everyday. The denim is remnants of a life lived in this loft style apartment. The apartment is nice, the denim is nice, but the human nature within a lived space is always left behind. Outside of the connection between Ms. Vanderbilt, the denim, and the everyday is the environmental connection with clothing. One side effect of the "fast fashion" industry is the amount of wasted clothes that never disintegrate and just sit in landfills. The jeans serve as a metaphor for leftover human waste, that that is left behind.
