Self-Portraits, 2019
These self-portraits are intended to play on gender and the body. These natural phenomena have been the center of the majority of my work thus far, and will continue to be. Using minimal props and dress, I attempt to explore and prove how the body in its minimalist and raw nature can express the social constructs of masculine and feminine. I drew inspiration from Robert Mapplethorpe and Carrie Mae Weems for their minimalist black and white style and explorations of the body and gender, as well.
